When We Say "Handmade"
At White Mountain Rustics, when we say "handmade" we mean our products were designed & created by us. We want to be sure to mention that many of our beads, charms & other materials are purchased from other small businesses. Without these awesome little bead & craft shops we wouldn't have the materials needed to make our products. So by supporting our shop you are also supporting many other small shops. ❤️

Dust & Rust with a Little Sparkle
We create jewelry for those who want a little sparkle to compliment their dusty boots. Who says cowgirls can't sparkle?

Meet Dally
Dally is the White Mountain Rustics mascot & one of our many pups. Dally was selected as the White Mountain Rustic's Mascot due to her sweet nature & good people skills. She travels to different vending events with us & even helps with moral support when we are busy behind the scenes producing inventory & preparing for big events. We don't know what we'd do without our Dally!

Meet Chicharron
Cheech isn't exactly our shop's mascot, but he is always around to keep the peace & support his people. He often tries to hijack Dally's "Pin Up Pups" photo shoots, in which she showcases new products that will be available. Dally has had a really hard time adjusting to sharing her spotlight, but she is coming to terms with it.
Meet the Makers
Meet the Makers of White Mountain Rustics!
☆Lori Johnston- Lori is our "Sparkle Specialist" specializing in all of our extra sparkley jewelry, such as our Rustic Sparkle jewelry line. She was also the original beaded necklace maker & creator of all our textiles & so she is our "Textile Specialist" too. Many years ago she made jewelry at a swap meet out of fishing lures. She said her jewelry was "alluring" 😆 She is extremely crafty & creative. Our shop would be lacking original inspiration, as well as festive decorations for every holiday imaginable without her!
☆Emma Basan- Emma specializes in soap making, extra dangley earrings designs, graphics & content creating. She is also our website designer & the creator of White Mountain Exposure, as well as the photographer behind the lens. Anyone who knows her knows her #1 job that she takes very seriously is being "The Cleaning Lady."
☆Chad Basan- As the official handyman of the Rusty Nail Ranch, his hands-on experience with welding & fixing things around the property has really come into play with soldering jewelry, wood working & building display stands. He is also our official "Engraver Specialist" as he is in charge of all our awesome engraved pieces too. It doesn't end there. Possibly his favorite job is trekking miles through our Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest collecting antlers, dead heads & more knowledge about the backroads. He is definitely the "Antler Specialist." But don't let his mountain man appearance fool you, he also has sales experience from many, many years ago as he used to sell avocados as a boy in Florida.
☆Mark Wagner- Mark has many years of experience as a carpenter & he also used to collect gems & stones, as well as old pieces of Native American pottery & arrowheads. He is our official "Gem & Stone Specialist," but he also helps with wood working & setting up displays & vending stands. Most of all, Mark seems to enjoy feeling the wind through his hair cruisin on the back of his Screamin Eagle Harley Davidson. So his favorite part of helping out is just the drive to & from the shop. Once a Honki Dawg, always a Honki Dawg!
Together, we bring a lot to the table of this little family business. We work as a team to build this small business dream of ours- but we haven't quit our day jobs just yet! 😆

Our Backstory (As told by Emma)
White Mountain Rustics is a small business dream come true for our family. My mother, Lori Johnston, and her husband, Mark Wagner, had moved to the White Mountains of Arizona from the Florida Panhandle sometime in the early 2000's. After visiting a couple times, my husband, Chad Basan, & I decided living in a small mountain town was just what we wanted. So, back in 2011, we made the big move & started a successful commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning business, which we still own & operate today (shout out to All Star Degreasing & Power Washing!)
Fast forward many years later to February of 2022, when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 33 years old. After a very dangerous surgery I am thankful I survived, I was in the hospital for a little under a week recovering. I don't know how I would have made it without my mother & husband by my side. We made that scary hospital stay as fun as it could have been & spent a lot of time dreaming & making plans for the future. One of those plans was starting our own business selling handmade goods, as we had always enjoyed making things. That dream that helped give me something to look forward to in the hospital turned into White Mountain Rustics, as well as my photography line White Mountain Exposure.
After a terrifying recurrence that presented itself in the form of a seizure, I am so blessed to be doing as well as I am. Making jewelry, crafts & plans for a future I was unsure of helped me to stay sane during my journey through chemotherapy, radiation & all the scary thoughts that come with it. It gave us all something fun & exciting to focus on. Now I want to build our business big enough to be able to give back, to help out those in a situation like the one I found myself & my family in. Please help us grow our small, family business so we can eventually donate a percentage of our profits to different charities & organizations.
We appreciate your support!
